Gyorsulva táguló Univerzum: egyetlen nagyon távoli SN megfigyelésére alapozva kiáltották világgá a gyorsuló tágulást azonban a megfigyelést számtalan hibalehetőség terheli. Nem ismert a szupernova típusa, távolsága, a fény útjában lévő elnyelő anyag mennyisége, a robbanás fényének beérkezési ideje. A Világegyetem lassulva tágul, mert a nyomó gravitáció a tágulás sebességét csökkenti. A legtávolabbi galaxisok sebessége ugyanúgy lassul mint egy feldobott kő. A Nobel díj odaitélése tévedés volt.
